A physician must terminate the patient-physician relationship before initiating a dating, romantic, or sexual relationship with a patient. Likewise, sexual or romantic relationships between a physician and a former patient may be unduly influenced by the previous physician-patient relationship.

Why are dentists now called Dr?

For clarification, the medical Dr title is a courtesy title applied to Doctors for their social contract and status within their social order. Dentists were given the higher title of Surgeon to differentiate the fact that their degree was surgical and when they qualified they were qualified as Surgeons.
