Question: When did I finally consider myself a cancer survivor?

How would you describe a cancer survivor?

Wikipedia says, “A cancer survivor is an individual who is considered a cancer survivor from the time of cancer diagnosis through the balance of his or her life.” The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship also defines it from the beginning of diagnosis to the balance of life, even if dying.

Are you cancer-free after 5 years?

In a complete remission, all signs and symptoms of cancer have disappeared. If you remain in complete remission for 5 years or more, some doctors may say that you are cured. Still, some cancer cells can remain in your body for many years after treatment. These cells may cause the cancer to come back one day.
