India bans another 43 Chinese apps as border tensions along LAC continue to simmer. In a bid to keep any covert agents looking to engage with soldiers on a romantic level, the Indian Army had banned apps like Tinder, OK Cupid, and Bumble of its own accord back in July.

Facebook, Twitter and Instagram may face a ban in India if they do not comply with the new Intermediary Guidelines. In February 2021, the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MEITy) had given a three-month time to the social platforms to comply with the new IT rules.

On September 2, the government had banned 118 more apps and in November it blocked 43 new Chinese mobile apps in the country, including shopping website AliExpress. In January this year, India also permanently blocked 59 of these apps, including TikTok.
